Jayne Torvill, 63, and Christopher Dean, 62, have been ice skating for more than 45 years. The pair are both judges on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, which airs tonight at 6pm. How much have they earned in their career?
The pair’s local ice rink in Nottingham was named Bolero Square, in honour of Torvill and Dean’s achievement.
After retiring from skating in 1994, the duo continued to skate and went on to produce an ice show at Wembley Stadium in London.
More recently, Torvill and Dean have appeared as coaches, choreographers and performers on Dancing on Ice and its Australian version, Torvill and Dean’s Dancing on Ice.
In 2016, the dance duo returned to Sarajevo to dance Boléro one more time, celebrating the 30 year anniversary of their gold medal win.
She said: “We were in the back of the bus going to a league match, and it just happened…It was a one-off. We never talked about it afterwards. We laugh about it now.”
Dance partner Christopher added: “We were 14-years-old, and teenagers in the most naive sense.
“We didn’t talk about it much after. The skating was everything and having a relationship just didn’t occur to us.”
Christopher has been divorced twice and is currently with ice dancer, Karen Barber.
The couple have been together since 2011.
Christopher has two sons from a previous relationship.
Jayne has been married to husband Phil Christensen, an American sound engineer since 1990.
They are parents to two children, Kieran and Jessica who were both adopted.
The family live in East Sussex with their adorable Jack Russell dog.
